Exciting news for us: BigName has been selected as the only provider of PROFESSIONAL INNOVATION training by MIP Politecnico di Milano’s Career Development Center!
More info (in Italian) here about our involvement in the introduction of the Career Self Design track, developed in conjunction with international career management experts.
We started with Personal Branding last month using our Personal Branding Canvas tool as part of a Design Thinking process involving more than 200 students The students involved are taking a range of full-time and remote Executive Masters, mostly MBAs (in Flex, Part-Time, e International Part-Time MBA formats) students.
It’s going to be a real challenge seeing as most of them usually want to change careers but, of course, they ͏c͏a͏n͏n͏o͏t say this ͏o͏u͏t ͏l͏o͏u͏d!
EMBA students in fact typically work full-time but many attend master courses part-time.
The challenge is for these students is: How can I promote myself for my next career opportunity while maintaining the impression I’m content with my current position? This is a necessity in order to avoid putting oneself in an awkward negotiating position.
Helping them avoid difficult situations is why using a visual tool like the Personal Branding Canvas is so important. The tool can help design and validate positioning strategy options in order to attract the interest of a future employer. Beginning with, maybe, editing their own Headlines, and then by starting to share the right content which meets the requirements of the job opportunity they are targeting. And, of course, by monitoring the results.
Professional Innovation
The next step relates to Professional Innovation. We will use the Personal Business Model Canvas as a tool to help understand the true nature of job offers. The Personal Business Model Canvas will also show the students how to check whether they are likely to be considered, or not, as a Key Resource by a company they are targeting.
